Ishana consists of several buildings on the same piece of property....
(click any photo to enlarge)

The main building houses the office, kitchen and dining facilities and sleeping quarters for ascenders and teachers alike. Between the main building and the yurt is a small orchard.

The yurt consists of an entranceway and a round meeting/ascension room. It is used on a regular basis for large meetings and ascending during the day and night.

A little further up the hill is a residence. This building also has additional housing, a small kitchen and dining area and a lounge for teachers. It is used for small meetings on some occasions.

During the late spring and summer, when the weather is nice, it’s not uncommon to see people out in the orchard.

It is a short walk to some of the most spectacular views of the Shuswap valley.

The winters are mild and the snow usually melts quickly rather than accumulating, such as in more northern latitudes.

For some, like the Mexicans attending the Mastery of Self course, this is their first exposure to snow...

People come from all over the world for the opportunity to attend the Mastery of Self course. Here is a group photo taken of the participants and teachers of the February and May 2006 course (click to enlarge).

Of course, ascending long hours is part of the course...

Two of the on-staff teachers, Avya Devi and Adya.

Here are teachers from Taiwan and Mexico midway through their teacher training course: Bodhini, Danavati, Rudrani, Tarika, and Kundalini.

Hannah, the daughter of Mata from Norway, is celebrating her 2nd birthday today with Mahashakti, also of Norway.

There are computers for emailing, instant messenging, and video chat. Here is Kandarpa from Mexico and Durga from Argentina.

Everyone brings their own unique flavor to Ishana, and the Mexicans are no exception with their passion and contagious sociability.

At a spring wedding held in the yurt is Namah (seated) and Datri, both from eastern Canada. In the background is Mata of Norway.

What would a Yoga Retreat be without yoga? Here is Jayama of Germany stretching out in the retreat’s yoga room.

And you might even see a fairy...
